The Ayrshire

Our Ayrshire dairy cows are mostly brown with white patches while some are dark mahogany in color. This breed has an average weight of about 450 kg if full grown and produces about 30 litres of milk per day which is high in butter fat content of 4.0%. They are fairly hardy and adaptive to various weather climates while relatively resistance to diseases.

Other important things to note about Ayrshire breed include;

  • Feed requirements are high (90-110 kg fresh forage per day)
  • Consumption of clean water about 60 litres per day
